COVID-19 NOTICE - 5 May 2020

Dear Members,

The Government's road map on resuming normal life following Covid-19 restrictions consists of a five phase plan. Phase 1 commences on the 18 May permitting the following to resume subject to social distancing:

  • Outdoor workers return to work.

  • Sporting activities for groups up to four people.

  • Re-opening of outdoor public sports amenities.

  • Re-opening of outdoor public amenities and tourism sites.

In addition, the Covid-19 Regulations expressly permit the operation of airports and the provision  of passenger flights. There is no geographical limitation placed on the distance allowed to travel to airports.

In light of this Government announcement we will re-open Kilkenny Airport from the 18 May and will resume private passenger flights for our members for skydiving on the following Saturday 23 May. Kilkenny Airport is situated on 65 acres of land and is well suited to facilitating social distancing.

In the interest of everybody's safety and to comply with best social distancing practices our re-opening will be subject to strict limitations and restrictions as follows:

  • We will operate on a limited schedule of Friday, Saturday and Sunday and monday only.

  • If enough interest is showing we are working on maybe opening thursday to give members a chance to get their skydives completed having lost the start of the skydive season

  • Daily bookings will be limited to a maximum of  20 members per day.

  • Booking appointments will be staged through-out the day.

  • Only members who are skydiving may attend the airport.

  • Spectators and supporters are not permitted to attend the airport.

  • The wearing of a suitable face-mask is required at all times at the airport and inside the aircraft.

  • Maintain appropriate safety precaution for coughing and sneezing etc.

  • Shaking hands is not permitted.

  • Regular hand sanitizing is required.

  • Weather limits will be stricter as we can not wait on a day for weather to change to permit skydiving as this will work against the staged arrival times currently in place , Both wind Gust  and cloud Forcasted the day prior will be  assesed for suitability

You should NOT make or attend a booking if you are experiencing any symptoms which are consistent with Covid-19 or if you suffer from an underlying medial condition that puts you at higher risk from Covid-19 or you will be refused access to the airport. On the day prior to your attending a booking you must advise us by email whether you have ever been diagnosed or have been suspected of having Covid-19.

We will continue to keep matters under review as they develop and will continue to implement the best recommended safety practices. Depending on how matters develop, it may be necessary to amend and adjust the above limitations and restrictions. Hopefully we will be able to resume our normal operations in the near future. We will endeavor to keep our members advised accordingly.

Our members stand in solidarity with all who have suffered and continue to suffer as a result of Covid-19.
